Habari | A chara

I am the person behind Sokoni, a business  registered in Ireland.

Sokoni is a  Swahili word meaning "At the market."

The idea for Sokoni has been lingering since 2010 when i first moved to Ireland, but i started implementing it in 2016/2017 when i visited back home and brought with me a few handmade merchandise some of which were for my household and some were to be sold.

I was impressed by the response i got from my friends hence i got the strength to keep going on and growing to where i am today.

At first i only relied on one supplier as my capital was very small, and i was a  student as well as a parent so money was very tight. But now i have 4 suppliers and growing. There are some merchandise i stock but there are others that are not stocked in Ireland but once a customer buys they're shipped immediately from Tanzania to Ireland or anywhere in the world. This takes about 7 days.

All in all i'm very happy of running this small social enterprise because it is something i not only enjoy doing but also help artisans find a market for their works, and i also get to earn something as well.

Above all i help in sharing a piece of African culture with the world. And it fills me with so much joy when customers are appreciating my culture through the products.
